Red Raspberry Leaf Tea and Yoga Ball Helped Katrena During Her Hospital Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

I was induced, but I was having *pre* labor for weeks approaching the big day.

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

I had to have pitocin, so they first broke my water *i was 5cm dialated coming into the hospital* me and my doula tried to initiate labor after that and it didn't work so we opted for pitocin. Contractions got super hard and close, I got the epidural during transition, birthed her 30 mins later 2 pushes. Probably didn't need the epidural but I didn't know how much longer it was going to be that bad.

  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

Red raspberry leaf tea for sure! And using my yoga ball / excercise

  • What surprised you about your birth?

    How quick it was!

  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

Essential oils helped a ton , but alas during that transitional phase it got to be too much.

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

    On my back

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

    Amazing !!

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

It's hard trying to go natural! Next time maybe I won't have to be induced again! I think the pitocin made the contractions a lot stronger then they should have been.
