Stretching and Walking Lot Helped Hazirah During Her Hospital Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

I had slight pain since 10h00 the Sunday morning which would come and go... finally around 17h00 the contraction pain became more intense. My husband took me to hospital and I asked the the nurse to check whats happening. When she checked I was 4cm dialated and contractions where 5 minutes apart that's when I officially knew I was in labour :-)

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

Remembering to breath lol one ends up tensing up and can become out of breath since you hold your breath when the pain is so intense... but once u just concentrate on breathing its actually so much easier.

  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

I didn't exercise as much as I wish I did but I did do stretching and I walked alot and remained active as in working and doing my daily duties right up until the end. I drank a lot of water although it sent me to the loo all the time.

  • What surprised you about your birth?

That it actually went so quick and once it was over it was over and once my baby was on my chest I realized I would go through that pain again and not change anything just to experience the awesome happy feeling I was feeling at that moment... every ache and pain was worth it!!! Its beautiful and so empowering realizing what your body and mind is capable of.

  • You can do it... set you mind on trying your best and heat healthy , remain active, strengthen your mind but thinking about what help you'll consider once you in labour. Women are made for this and I believe that one can strengthen your mind and body to have a beautiful experience. Unless you have no choice because of complications believe you can and you will ... once that baby is out the pain is gone and its just happiness!!
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

Breathing and I kept telling myself its going to get worse and next minute it was over. The happy gas was available and when I had a puff I could feel the relief but I didn't want to take it as I wanted to be by my full senses.

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

On my back on the hospital bed

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

Indescribable happiness and relief that my baby is out..healthy...and we both made it!! I couldnt believe my little person was here and I felt like it was a dream hahaha I was just soooo grateful

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
