Not until about an hour or so before he was born

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
I'd say the anticipation leading up to birth and questioning whether or not you'll be able to accomplish all your goals.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
It's kind of crazy, but I did a lot of thinking. Thinking about what I wanted and how to get it. Thinking about all the different obstacles and outcomes and how I would want to approach each one.

What surprised you about your birth?
How obtainable all my goals were when I just took things 1 step at a time

Your partner is your biggest cheerleader. It's going to hurt and if your in labor for long it's only human to want some kind of relief. Make sure your partner has knows what you want and advocates for you, even against your own self.

Squeezing the ever loving crap out of my husband's hand

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Hard to explain. It definitely wasn't what I thought it would be. The whole birth was kind of mess and nothing went as planned and it all went rather quickly so I think I was in shock.
Plus having some of the trust issues I do with mainstream medicine I wasn't confident they would follow all our wishes. I just kept thinking what do we have to decline next and what do we actually want done.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
