When did you realize you were really in labor?
As I laid down to sleep I felt a "pop" and sure enough it was my water breaking.
-
What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
I took my time getting prepared after figuring out my water broke but I honestly thought I was going to make it to the Hospital. I also planned on getting the epidural. But once the first contraction came I knew I was further along than what I thought. I was very nervous and thought I couldn't do it. My husband coached me through 8 strong and short contractions and out came baby!

What surprised you about your birth?
The entire birth situation was a surprise! I had 2 previous births all which I opted for the epidural and I labored for long hours at the hospital. We call this birth our special/miraculous birth! I showed no signs of labor that entire day. I laid down to sleep at around midnight and my water broke! I had absolutely no pain so I got up and told hubby that we should get ready for the hospital so I jumped in the shower and before I know it a painful contraction hit me! Two more hit me before exiting the shower. I had a quick moment to put on my socks and pants so we could leave but another one came and it was so painful and the "water" rushed out. It was then I realized that the contractions were coming 1 minute apart and I must have been further along than I thought. Next, I stood up and it felt like I had to push with the next contraction and I told hubby to dial 911 because I didn't think we are going to make it to the hospital because baby is coming now! He quickly removed my pants and put towels down and asked was it a head and I felt and it was! With next contraction out came baby really fast I had to catch her! Definitely an experience we will never forget! I planned to get an epidural and labor for hours but that didn't happen... It was all natural and very quick. It took a total of 20mins from my water breaking to the self delivery of baby. The best part is we didn't know the gender so when I caught the baby that was the first thing I checked! It's a girl!!!

It's totally doable. I actually encourage everyone to try to go all natural. The healing time is much faster and you get what I believe the "true" intent of how God wanted us to give birth!

What pain relief strategies worked best?
I definitely didn't have a chance to relax because of the timing of everything but definitely breathing and that coaching support from my spouse.
-
What position did you end up delivering in?
I stood up in front our bathroom mirror
-
How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
Excited and shocked!
