Birth Stories

Lots of Exercise and Drinking Lots of Water Helped Krista During Her Hospital Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

About 9:00 on a Friday evening

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

The pushing. I had had a block with my first and so had not experienced that before. It was very intense.

  • What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

Lots of exercise and drinking lots of water.

  • What surprised you about your birth?

That I did it! There was a time I thought I would die and couldn't make it but I did it.

  • If you haven't done it before try not to freak out when it comes. I think I just became so scared the time came to push that I went a little crazy with the screaming. Just keep telling yourself it will be over before you know it and you'll have that precious baby in your arms.
  • What pain relief strategies worked best?

Screaming felt good during the pushing.:-)

  • What position did you end up delivering in?

    Back

  • How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

Incredible. After all that pain to be able to hold him was even more amazing than with my first birth.

  • What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

If you haven't done it before try not to freak out when it comes. I think I just became so scared the time came to push that I went a little crazy with the screaming. Just keep telling yourself it will be over before you know it and you'll have that precious baby in your arms.
