Birth Stories

Sheena's Cesarean Birth

  • When did you realize you were really in labor?

About a week before I gave birth. My contractions started on a Friday night, they were about 20 minutes apart, and consistently stayed that way for the next 7 days.

  • What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

In the end I had to have a c-section, my body just wouldn't cooperate, which for me seemed to be the most challenging thing. Having the will, an the patience wasn't enough in my case. I labored at 5cm for 3 days and by the time I was 8cm my cervix had swollen, and my blood pressure had dropped drastically.

That no matter my birth plan, preparation and will, things will happen as they are meant to happen, all the planning and communication with my spouse and birthing team could not of prepared me for my birthing outcome.
