When did you realize you were really in labor?
On Christmas night at 10pm my water broke. I called my midwife and she told me it was time to call my husband home from his place of work.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?
We had a 3hr drive to our midwifes house in order to do a natural birth with her.

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?
I found a midwife who completely believed in me and my body to deliver my baby naturally.

What surprised you about your birth?
I was surprised by how much easier it was to cope with the pain this delivery than my last one. I believe it was due to being in a more relaxing, stress free environment.

What pain relief strategies worked best?
Distraction, humor, and realizing that every bit of pain I was going through I could just let go of because I wasn't going to have to feel it again.

What position did you end up delivering in?
Hands and knees.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?
I felt so proud of myself. I am not a large person and I delivered a 9lb 10oz baby naturally all because an amazing birth team and I believed in my body.

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?
Find a birth team who believes in your birth plan.
