When did you realize you were really in labor?

After I went in before my scheduled apt and my midwife checked me and I was 8cm. This birthing time was so different from
My other two. I had contractions all. Ugh but super spread apart. When I went in and was told I was an 8 I was so happy! I was 41 weeks and 4 days, had four sessions of acupuncture to induce and finally my body went into labor. At 8cm with my first two natural births I was in much more pain but this birth I was walking and talking and even eating. Once my water broke my beautiful boy came 1 hour later. This was my fastest birthing time! My first was 18hours, second was 8 hours, this one a total of 3-4 hours.

What was the most challenging thing about going natural?

I had two natural births prior to this one so I didn't really have difficulty with having a natural birth. The pushing phase is always the most painful but it's all about mindset! The mind is very powerful!

What was the most helpful thing you did to prepare for childbirth?

Hypnobabies and mental preparation.

What surprised you about your birth?

How fast it was, how different it was from my first two and the fact that I pushed out a 10lb 6oz baby and didn't tear at all!!!

Ladies you can do it!! We are meant to have natural births!! It's a mindset feed your mind positive things and decide that there is no other way to go than birthing naturally, it can be done and it's a beautiful experience!!

What pain relief strategies worked best?

Really just breathing and mindset, it hurt there is no way around that.

What position did you end up delivering in?

Sidelying with hubby holding my leg in a squatting position.

How did it feel to hold your baby for the first time?

Words cannot describe it. Best moment ever!

What advice can you give to other mamas who want to go natural?

Ladies you can do it!! We are meant to have natural births!! It's a mindset feed your mind positive things and decide that there is no other way to go than birthing naturally, it can be done and it's a beautiful experience!!
