  1. While being pregnant with him my pregnancy and his birth went exactly as I had hoped. I was able to receive the services I wanted, where those services didn’t exist before, it was magical. When he was born my mother, who witnessed his birth, came to our bedside and said “he’s a treasure”. It was clear to me that his name would be Jasper.

    2. Has a great meaning, bringer and keeper of treasure, not a biblical name (we are not affiliated with any religion)
    3. If we have another kid (really want a daughter), we can call her Jasmine :-).

  3. It’s a name you cannot pronounce wrong in Belgium en I think that’s very important.
    My husband chose the name and I had to get used to it, but now we love it so much! It’s a real boys name.

  4. we were having trouble naming our surprise 3rd baby. my oldest son was listing off names of rocks (because we do love and collect rocks) and he said things like amethyst, agate.. and when he said “jasper”, my husband and i looked at each other and went “HUH!” and when my husband said “what goes with that for a middle name” and i immediately said “vernon” – his grandfathers name. perfect! 🙂

    • oops, forgot to add a detail: when our oldest was listing off rock names, we were on the north shore of MN – those are all rocks you can find in lake superior at some locations. <3

  8. We wanted to name Jasper after my husband’s grandparents Jane and Patrick. We could not find the boy version of Jane and I did not like the name John. So, Jasper it was. I also had help from a friend.
