  1. I was born in Australia in 1948. My parents named me after their first children born in 1946, Kevin and Jeffrey (still-born).
I understood after looking up the name that it came from Old German, Gotfried, meaning Friend of God. This supposedly followed through to Saxon/French as Geofery, with the same meaning, and then to Old English as Jeoffery, same meaning, ending up as Jeffrey, again with the same meaning of God, Friend, or Friend of God.
I was surprised to see your meaning of God’s Peace, as I have never seen/heard of it before. However it does fit my lway of life as I live it now.
Thank you for your investigation of my name.

  2. My husband wanted to name our first son after him and his dad to continue on the family name

  3. Our sons first name was chosen in honor of my husband’s baby brother who was tragically stillborn.

  4. When we found out we were having a boy we throughout the girl name we had picked out; unfortunately it was the only name we had picked out. I ran a few boy names past my husband to find out that he didn’t care for any of them. I finally asked him for his suggestions he said he liked the name Jeffrey. My husband wasn’t thinking too far outside the box here seeing as his name is Jeffrey Allen Jr. I agreed to the first name Jeffrey but really didn’t want our son to be Jeffrey Allen III. We agreed on changing the middle name to Aaron. It would have the same initials but still be different. I had always liked the name Aaron so it fit really well. When he was born I didn’t feel like the name fit him but now that he’s 3 years I can’t think of a better name for him.
