  1. My husband and I are both from Kenya, when we conceived we both had a tough time deciding on names. We chose to wait on finding out the gender, but we wanted to choose a Swahili word/name and we wanted the name to be unisex.

A few months into the pregnancy, we unfortunately lost my brother suddenly, and my husband and I agreed to honor him by naming our child after him. My brothers name means eagle in German, so we decided to name our child “Tai” which means eagle in Swahili.

A few months later, our daughter Tai was born and we are glad that my brother was part of the naming process because before his passing, he always referred to my baby as a girl.
