Reply Diana Feb 22 at 7:05 am Ocean represents the profound power and grace of God in the Bible. Reply Elissa Oct 12 at 8:01 am I have always loved the name Ocean and hopes o would one day use it for my child. We had been trying to conceive and we were on vacation in tofino BC. I had a strong feeling that I was pregnant one rainy morning while I was surfing, and I dove under a wave and felt as thought I wasn’t alone in my body. Our daughter Ocean was born in a birthing pool in our living room in the spring. Every time I take her swimming she becomes so calm and sleepy. She is truly my water baby! When I introduce her I generally get good reactions from most people, regardless of age or gender. Older generations are usually more surprised but still it’s usually positive. Reply Jenna Oct 9 at 7:12 pm I was so lost on what to name my daughter. I wanted something that was unique to her. I got pregnant while on vacation at the beach. When discussing names we were talking about beach themed names and joked about “sandy or sun” and then my sister said “ocean” and I knew right then that would be my daughters name. Reply Sheri Aug 12 at 11:10 pm My partner had a dream before we were pregnant that we had a baby boy named Ocean. I thought that was a strange name. And then we got pregnant with Ocean (after four miscarriages). We were really just focused on getting to full term and hadn’t picked a boy’s name out yet. We let the baby’s sex be a surprise for the birth and when he was born and we found out it was a boy, Ocean seemed like the only fitting name. (After many hours of labour, I endured another five hours fully dilated except for a cervical lip. I had to labour in the tub a third time, on my side while in pain, in a desperate attempt to shift the baby to avoid all the interventions being thrown at me. Then I surprisingly fell asleep in the soothing water and after three contractions, I jumped up because Ocean shifted, instantly my water broke, and we were ready for a few short pushes before he was born.) Ocean was my water baby; it was meant to be. Reply Ann Jun 16 at 11:04 am We couldn’t think of any boy names we liked! We probably went through every name on the internet. My husband and I both love nature and especially the water, and being near the Ocean has always been a healing a magical place for us both; together and individually. My husband loves to sail, and I loved the metaphor in a spiritual context of the vast and primordial Ocean. The name popped into my head one day, and while on a hike with hubby passed it by him, and he was surprised as he had also been thinking of the same name! (Both of us were slightly reluctant to hear the opinion of this name as it is “different).” When we looked into it more, we found that Oceanus (the Greek Titan) was where the name for the ocean originated – which made us love the name even more. Reply Brittany May 2 at 9:16 pm Because our dogs best friend was names Ocean. We love in Taiwan surrounded by the ocean and we loved “o” names. It just suited him after he was born too! Reply Darylann Oct 10 at 11:03 am My husband was born and raised in a remote town in the woods of Northern California, and he spent a great amount of time at the beach and in the ocean. I, too, have always been drawn to the ocean, and being at the beach is one of our favorite things to do together. When he proposed the name Ocean for our son, I was immediately sold!
