Rhodes, albeit of Greek origin, is move famously attributed to Cecil Rhodes (This Rhodes Scholarship). Amongst his adventures was as a Brit, moving to Africa to build out the DeBeers empire. He also was the namesake of “Rhodesia” where my father-in-laws family ultimately moved from London. We also loved its uniqueness (We both have common names shared by too many classmates growing up) and meaning “where the roses grow”.
