  1. Our son’s name, Deacon was actually picked by my husband. When we were finding out the gender, we kind of joked if the baby was a girl, I would pick the name and if the baby was a boy my husband would. Something fun we decided to do, but ultimately, we’d both decide something together that we’d love. When my husband told me the name he had chosen, I was blown away by his decision. He actually put a lot of thought into naming his son. I just loved it. When I asked him how he picked the name, he told me he wanted a name that was strong. Especially since it was a long road for us to get pregnant, so our baby needed a good bold name to grow big and strong. 🙂

  2. Meanings of names are very important to us and our other 3 children’s names have followed the theme of girls ending in “a” like mine and my sisters (my full name is Alexandria) and the boy’s names ending in “n” like my husband and his brothers. We also like to pick names that are not super common. Our other kids are named Rinoa, Alora, and Declan. We had a very hard time picking out Deacon’s name, especially because it’s so similar to his brother’s, but in the end, we just knew it was right. Deacon means “God’s messenger or servant” and his middle name is Samuel, after my favorite Uncle, which means “God heard”. His birth confirmed his name was perfect because it was my first homebirth and he ended up being our midwive’s first surprise breech out of over 500 babies delivered and I prayed for the strength to push him out and he was out in 2 pushes in under 2 minutes. God definitely heard my prayer!

  3. When I was pregnant I watched a movie in which Deacon was the name of a WWII medic. I thought that was a pretty cool name.
