  1. My husband and I were looking for a classic/vintage name that was not common. Many lists have names like Emmit and Everett (which are great but we knew a couple of each).
So knowing what we wanted, vintage and uncommon, we were keeping our eyes and ears open. One day we were watching our team, the Philadelphia Eagles (GO BIRDS!), and one of their players has the first name Fletcher. We both loved the name! Looking into the meaning of the name it means arrow maker and we thought that was pretty cool.
Now that he is here we couldn’t imagine his name being anything else! We just love him so much ?

  2. On a whim we decided to look for boy names on a hunting/outdoors themed list for our second child. We both read Fletcher and loved the sound of it. It’s a surname, and also occupation related (meaning a maker of arrows). We loved that it’s unique, while not completely unheard of. We call humbly Fletch or Fletchy for short, and I like to think even as an adult, Fletch will still fit him perfectly. It also reminds me of the verse in the Bible that talks about children being like arrows, and to fill your quiver. While he certainly filled ours, I also pray that one day he will be a strong and bold man who isn’t afraid to be a father, either to his own children, or the fatherless people in his life ?. His name reminds me of the prayer 1,000 times a day ?.

  3. Fletcher is an occupational name meaning arrow maker. It is also one of those “Grandpa-chic” old school names that peaked in the 1800’s but is currently very uncommon. It also has Biblical/Christian ties as the Psalms tell us “Blessed is he whose quiver is full”. A strong, two syllable boys name.

  4. I chose the name Fletcher because it has a nice, rustic vibe to it. Fletcher means “arrow-maker” and fletch is the feather part of the arrow.
