  1. It means “Beloved of God”.

I love that his nickname can be “Jed“.

  2. Our last two babies were girls, but both times we had the same boy name for a possible boy. When we found out we were expecting a boy this time, the name we had always planned to use did not feel right for him. As we prayed for God to give us his name we felt strongly it was Jedidiah. This name was never on our list before this baby. The meaning of ‘beloved of God’ in Hebrew refers to an actual physical love of God, rather that just special to God.

  3. We felt God leading us to choose this name because of some personal experiences we had and a restoration process we went through. The name Jedidiah was given as a second name to King Solomon when he was still a baby, meaning “Loved By God”. It was a blessing given to David and Bathsheba after David repented of his adultery.

  4. My original name is Solomon. I knew when my husband told me the name I’d have peace… so when I had to verbalize it to him four days after our son was born at a birth center, I knew it wasn’t the name. So, when he offered Jedidiah. I was shocked. My spirit responded and said ‘yes!’ Jedediah is the name given to Solomon by the Prophet Nathan. We spelled it Jedidiah to nickname ‘Jedi.’ Jedi = a warrior trained to maintain peace + justice for the people. Solomon means peace.

  5. My husband wanted a biblical J name to follow the family pattern. His name is Josh, his dad is James, and his grandpa is John. We narrowed down the possibilities to our top 3 favorites and my husband had the job of choosing plus picking a middle name because I had named our first born. He researched to make sure the names didn’t have any negative associations and ultimately chose Jedidiah William! Jedidiah is only referenced once in scripture. It is the spiritual name God gave king Solomon.

  6. The name Jedidiah came to me in a dream I had of my late uncle’s and the name Jedidiah Kept coming to me
