   My husband and I are both Greek and come from traditional Greek families. It’s very common to have family names and name babies after grandparents. My husband and I, as of right now, are planning on having only 2 children so we wanted to make sure we were able to memorialize both sides for those 2 kids. Since we had a girl first, my husband’s side waits for a boy to carry on the male naming tradition so we went with Konstantina “Dina” after my father and her middle name is Hariklia after my mother. We love that Konstantina is both a strong female Greek name as well as pretty and feminine. The only dislike is that I wish it had more unique nicknames. It’s a very common name in our religion and so I’ve been trying to play around with different nicknames but Dina seems to fit her the best. We chose Dina over Konnie because my dad goes by Dino from Konstantinos.

   It’s a greek name because my husband is from greece. It’s a tradition in greece to name the first child like the grandpa from the father’s side. Depending of the sex of the child, which in this case we will have a girl, we changed it from Konstantinos to Konstantina. I like the name a lot and i love that we just followed the tradition so it took all the guess work out;) for the next child it would be from my father’s name and so on…
