  1. We wanted a unique girl’s name that sounded strong and that would go with the family middle name, Jean. I had first heard the name Leighton when I was a teenager watching the show “Gossip Girls” (actress Leighton Meester) and I loved it ever since. I’m glad my husband liked it as well! The only negative about her name is that some people don’t spell it correctly, but that doesn’t bother mean at all.
