  1. Marigold is not only a beautiful, cheerful flower loved all over the world, it also has a deep history and meaning. It comes from “Mary’s Gold”, refering to the Virgin Mary. My baby was born in May: the month of Mary and flowers and reminds me of motherhood, beauty and humility and true treasure in heaven.

  2. Marigold is a popular name again in UK and US after it appeared in the serie Downton Abbey. She is the daughter of Lady Edith Crawley.

    • I’ve heard of the show but never seen it. I know my mother couldn’t have named me Marigold after that though. I’m nearly 40 years old. Although it does make me curious of how she decided my name.

  3. I’m Marigold and I love my name

    • My name is Marigold too! Friends and family call me Goldie for short.

  4. We loved the meaning behind the name and her nickname Goldie. Our other two kids have color names; Olive and Roux.

    • My name is Marigold and family call me Goldie for short. I love it! I’ve never another person with the same name.

  5. I love Marigold because it has spiritual significance in most wisdom traditions around the planet. Marigolds ward off negative energy and raise the positive vibration. They are a symbol of sunlight and abundance.
We love the nickname Goldie too!!

    • My name is Marigold. Family and friends call me Goldie. Just wanted to say that your definition of is so beautiful! I love it!

  6. We choose Marigold mainly for the connection to Mary and Jesus! The name is from a contraction of “Mary’s Gold” which is a direct reference to her son, Jesus. We also loved that it was a botanical name, but not a common one; it has never ranked in the top 1000 girl names in the US. Another thing that sold us was the adorable nicknames! We call her Margo for short, but Goldie is adorable too! The only issue we’ve encountered so far is that some folks who are hard of hearing (or over the phone) think we’re saying her name is Miracle. We’ve been able to get around this since then by introducing her as “Marigold, like the flower!”

    • My name is Marigold but family call me Goldie for short. I definitely relate to the mistaken name calling. I’ve been called Miracle, Marisol, MariLou, Mary, Maribel, etc. This list goes on but when I explain that it’s a flower they are unfamiliar with it. So I usually say “Gold” like jewelry!!
