I’m 53yo and was named after my grandmother who was born in 1933. Nesha ( pronounced nee sha) by my family) is from the name Agnes and its many nicknames. It’s from my Scottish ancestors and is probably supposed to pronounced with a short e. I found it in an any name book that confirmed for me that it was Scottish and stemmed from Agnes. In India girls named Nisha, Nesha, or Neisha always have a prefix bc it means night and they joke that they don’t want their girls to be women of the night. My whole ancestry is England/ Northwestern Europe, Scotland, Northern wales, Germanic Europe, and Finland. The “sha” at the end makes people think African American and I get looks all the time but it’s Scottish. Misha is a man’s name in Russia so you can’t assume by name alone
