Share Your Thoughts 2 Comments Nicole May 17 at 11:10 am I choose the name samara because it means protected by God …samara is my 7th child and I was very scared to have with all my health problems but she came healthy as ever and the meaning of her name reminded me never to worry.. Reply Kayla Apr 11 at 5:55 pm One morning when I was probably 6 or 7 months pregnant I was reading the Bible and asked the Lord to show me something. Now I wasn’t expecting Him to show me a baby name, but He did! I read the town Samaria… thought it was pretty looked it up (it meant like a city or something) and then a suggested name was Samara that had the meaning “protected by God.” And instantly I felt that was the name for our baby… that we didn’t know the gender of yet! It’s a baby girl name!!! It gave me such a comfort the rest of the pregnancy to know the meaning, and it turns out she was born perfect in the sack with the cord wrapped around her neck 4 times and we knew that this was indeed her name! God had protected her already. It’s going to be neat to see how her name plays out in the future as well. We pronounce it “Suh-mare-uh” That was the only think I was unsure of, but a differ from spelling was a different background and inreall Liked the Hebrew spelling of Samara. ??
