Colton Name Meaning

A stylish pick with a cowboy feel, Colton is right at home towards the top of the charts. He has buckets of charm under his belt and is sure to keep parents wild about him for years to come.

As C names for boys like Carter and Conner are hot, hot, hot, Colton remains in the common yet not overused territory. He’s a manly name that’s handsome as can be, tough enough to work on a grown man. At the same time, he’s undeniably boyish, a mischievous pick for a spirited little guy. He’s helped further by his precious nickname of Colt, the term for a frisky young horse.

Colton may be less common than some, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t work within today’s top trends. He’s a surname pick that’s just as fashionable as Jackson or Logan, yet isn’t heard multiple times in every playgroup. He’s also a surprise place name, a subtle pick that isn’t as obvious as Austin or Phoenix.

With his wild west feel it’s no surprise that little Colton can’t be tamed. He loves nothing more than running and playing, right at home on a bike soaring down the biggest hills. He’s the perfect name for an active baby, especially if he was bucking like a bronco in the womb.

  1. Me and hubs made a list of names, I had 5 he had 5. When looking at both lists we had both chose Colt or Colton. So we went with Colton and shorten it to Colt. We already knew the middle name would be Wayne (grandfather’s name) so it was relatively easy afterwards. All we had to do was find a name that flowed.
