  1. Our second son, born 1973 is named Soren after a Danish friend.love his name, suits him and although the meaning is ‘stern’ and he can be, you couldn’t find a softer natured guy x

  2. My husband and I could NOT agree on a boy name we both loved for our 4th son! We felt like we had already chosen the names we loved on our first 3 boys. I loved Soren bc I had never heard it before ( my husband found it on an internet list). My husband didn’t love it, but he really liked Ren for a name/nickname.

  3. It was the one name my husband and I both mutually liked. I was hoping for a Biblical name as both my husband and I habe them, but my husband favored Latin names.

It means “thunder” in Danish which I thought was a cool meaning (and Jesus called two of the disciples “sons of thunder” so in a roundabout way it has the Biblical reference that I was hoping for.)

  4. The main reason we chose this name is because we can nickname him Ren, after my dad, who was named after his grandfathers nickname – Rennie.

  5. Everyone was so convinced we were having a girl, that we didn’t even have a boy’s name picked! Add to that our son was 2 weeks early and we were totally unprepared! Poor baby was nameless for about a day while his Dad and I just read lists of names. We wanted a name that was strong and unusual. His Dad also wanted him to have a “cool guy” name since he’s never liked his own common name.

  6. My older son is named after his father and grandfather, so I wanted our second son to have a name from my side of the family. My maiden name is Sorensen, which is Danish and means son of Soren, so we went with Soren for his name. A nice, strong, Danish (Viking) boys name that’s been around for centuries but is not very common in the US. We love it!
