Share Your Thoughts 7 Comments Bonnie O’Carroll Jan 21 at 9:09 pm I named my granddaughter Alaurahope. Because I asked my Mother what would she have named me if she was allowed to when I was born. She said Alaura. So, when it came to naming my new grand baby I was tossing up two names, Alaura, in honour of my late Mother or Hope, how I was feeling about the birth of this gorgeous little girl. My eldest granddaughter said, “name her both Nan” so, that is what I did. I didn’t hyphenate it because mostly only the first name is used when hyphenated. Alaurahope loves her name and so dose our family. Reply AlauraLP Jan 6 at 7:04 am I was born in 1967. My parents liked the name Laura and wanted me to have my dad’s initials. He is Alfred so they just put an A in front. They had 3 boys before they could use it for me. 🙂 For a shy girl in school it was hard for me to correct people, especially teachers when they didn’t hear the A and called me Laura. I’m very happy with my name and have mostly always gotten compliments. I was always sure I was the only one but in recent years I’ve heard more people say they’ve heard the name, although sometimes spelled slightly different. Hello all you other Alauras! Reply Laura D Oct 9 at 1:30 pm I named my daughter Alaura after mysefl. Also my mother in laws name was Lorna and her mothers name was Valora. So it just made sense to name her Alaura . I love her name, I always thought my name Laura was boring If i knew of the name when I was little I would have changed my name to Alaura. Reply Sarah F Apr 17 at 5:54 pm I chose the name Alaura for my daughter born in 2011. I heard the name in the 1980s movie Willow, however, the princess’s name was Elora. The way the English pronounced it in the movie sounded more like Uh-lora so I thought the name Alaura would be more fitting to the pronunciation I wanted. She gets so many compliments on her name and how beautiful it is. I didn’t think it was a popular name and, at the time, I thought the spelling was original to her. I have been proven wrong many times now! Reply Alaura.B Feb 17 at 8:37 am i like my name my name is like an uncommon name i got it from my grate grate grandma her name was laura but my moms mom which is my other grandma but i got the a put in front of it so they my dads mom doesn’t cry about it i love my name but at the same time i don’t but yah Reply Alaura S, Dec 16 at 8:26 pm I honestly didn’t think my name was this common, I though there might be only like 15 people with my name but i guess not. If you choose to pick this name for you baby, then this is a name that might catch the eyes of a few people, in school i have one of the most unique names, my brother has probably the second ( Stryker ). Alaura is such a pretty name and you should definitely use it! Reply Natasha Feb 26 at 8:31 am I actually didn’t choose the name Alaura but my husband did. It had to grow on me but because I chose our first two kids name, I let him have this one. Our oldest daughter name is Alanah and he wanted a name close to hers so instead of Aurora he chose Alaura Reply Share your thoughts on the name Alaura Cancel ReplyYour email address will not be published.
