  1. Alma was a name I saw in a movie and thought “That’s a unique name” and didn’t think anything more about it. Then I got pregnant and found out I was having a girl. I went through all the names I had thought of through my life and nothing stuck, even before I saw her face. Then Alma popped back in and it meshed well with the middle name so wanted to give her (the feminine of her great-Grandfather’s name). It was unique, simple to spell and pronounce, coincidentally had a Portuguese translation and it just fit the moment I saw her when she was born.

  2. Alma means “soul” in Spanish. This word has a strong meaning, that’s why I chose it.

  3. She was born on the 15th

  4. I saw it in a British movie and immediately fell in love with it. It suits baby girl as well as an old lady 🙂

  5. I always want my kids to have short names which start with A,while in search of names mom come up with Alma it’s a Latin name means kind, nourishing, uplifting soul, beautiful and I fall in love with it instinatly..That how I found my Alma.

  6. I love alma name since my mother brought it up and coming to know the meaning alma means nourishing, kind, uplifting as it’s my first child and my labour was not easy…I decided to go for such a beauty name plus my hubby’s name is Ibrahim

  7. Alma was my great(x4) grandmother’s name. It means soul. I love the name. The only trouble is people mispronounce it often.
