  1. Had my daughter the week before Thanksgiving this year. We’re so blessed. The whole pregnancy was an unexpected blessing. We knew even before we knew she was a girl that her name was gonna be Alondra. My husband’s name is Alonso and I’m Cassandra= Alondra. We figured that we were meant to have a girl that’s why we couldn’t think of a boy name. Alondra also means defender or mankind which is also nice. One of her nicknames is Alon which means ocean wave in Filipino.

  2. I also just as well at first disliked my name. I wanted a name that was common such as Ally or Illeana. It got to the point where I would tell people to stop calling me by my name and refer to me as Ally instead. Once I got into high school, that’s where I began to appreciate my name. I learned about it’s origin and meaning, people would mention that they loved my name and thought it was pretty. That’s when I realized that the name Alondra may not be so common but I should be grateful that I am one of the possible few people that was given this name and that’s unique. So now I appreciate my parents for having given me such a pretty and unique name.

  3. My name is Alondra as a kid growing, I hated my parents for giving me this uncommon name… I just wanted to be Jennifer or Michelle or any other popular girls name for that matter. I never knew anyone else named Alondra as a kid or even as an adult.
I was an adult, married, with two girls (with very common names) of my own when a Spanish speaking co-worker of mine told me what an Alondra was… A kind of bird who’s called a Lark in English… According to her it was a very pretty bird who sang pretty songs and that’s when I began to appreciate the name my parents are giving me

    • That’s a cool story. I think it’s a pretty name.
