  1. I’ve had this name picked since I was about 13. I love that it is classic sounding, there are so many great Elizabeths from Pride and Prejudice’s Elizabeth Bennett to Queen Elizabeth (I & II). The biblical figure has always been one of my favorites as well and the meaning “God is my oath” was important to both me and my husband. I wanted an alternative spelling for a few reasons; myself and all my siblings have y’s in our names and I wanted to continue with that, especially my firstborn daughter as she also shares my middle name, also the “s” was chosen because I dislike the nickname Liz and am hoping to deter such a nickname, and with Elysabeth there are so many others to choose from! Already she has been lovingly called Ely, Els, Lillibet, Denver (within the family), and E.D.
