My partner came up with the idea to call her Emerald and it stuck. Reply Cody Apr 20 at 3:35 pm I love your info Reply Bayleene Feb 22 at 10:58 am Well we started out with all sorts of names. My other half was insistent on Asgard. We didn’t know the gender of our baby and wanted to be surprised. After some time my other half came to me and said how does Emerald sound? You see my other half is Irish and I’m Norwegian. He picked Emerald for the Emerald Isles of Ireland and it sounded perfect. Also I knew we were having a girl. 🙂 Woman’s intuition all the way. Reply Patricia Jun 7 at 4:34 pm We absolutely love this name. We discovered it while reading the Bible. An emerald was the gemstone in the high priest’s breastplate to represent the tribe of Judah. We know Jesus came from the tribe of Judah and was referred to as the lion of Judah. The name couldn’t be more fitting for our daughter! It also means priceless, precious, and rare. Our girl is all of those things. We call her “Emma” for short! So great!! Reply Mattie Apr 14 at 5:36 pm We chose the name Emerald Claire because we liked the way it sounded with our last name and we liked the way the names flowed together. There was also some personal significance to the name because my husband and I got married in a May (emerald is the May birthstone), went to Ireland for our honeymoon (the Emerald Isle), and he had given me an emerald ring for our 5th anniversary. So it just felt like such a perfect fit! We also use the nickname “Emmie” which we all like (she’s been able to say it since she was a little over a year old).
