  1. The first time we heard the name Kaia we knew it was the one! It’s so beautiful and unique. It’s Hawaiian for ocean or sea.

  2. It just came to us and seemed to fit her.

  3. Thoughts!

  4. Kaia can mean earth/sea, her middle name is Joy so JOY TO THE WORLD

also she’s our rainbow baby after a miscarriage so sorrow may last for a night but joy comes in the morning! Psalm 30:5. Except she was 8 minutes past morning. Which is fine she’s a McCalley

    • Awww, my partner mentioned this name for our baby girl who’s due in May. My 1st daughter. I only birthed 4 boys, expect my 4th passed ? he was only 2 months. So this girl is my rainbow baby as well ?

      • kaia is a cute name and my sisters name is kaia she is 3 years old and I love her

  5. We choose Kaia for our daughter as it has several meanings that fit our sense of her and our experience of her birth. In Sanskrit Kaia or Kaya is the body, in Ayurveda it is the vital heat of the body and in Buddhism it represents all of the bodies, not just physical but mental and spiritual. I also wanted it as Kaia is a derivative of Gaia, the earth goddess. We also liked that it went well with her older brother, Koa’s name and has a Hawaiian sound to it though it isn’t a traditional Hawaiian name but is associated with Kai, the sea.
