It’s from a game called Kingdom Hearts and it’s an unofficial Disney princess name. I’ve always dreamt of having a little girl and I wanted her to have a unique and special, beautiful name. The meaning of Kairi is Sea, goddess of spring/growth. My sons name means protector of the water. He is her protective brother for sure. It’s also a tribute to his middle name, which is Kai. Kai is also significant to me in the form of a show called Dragonball Z, where the Kai’s are the “gods” in a sense. Kairi is also a nice match with the name Lillie, her identical twin sister in heaven. Kairi Mae and Lillie Mai. Personally, I love everything about Kairi. The only con would be explaining the pronunciation to family/friends.. but it’s quite simple, and worth it, as it is unique. Kairi- ky-ree, It rhymes with My-Bee. My little Queen bee, Kairi. Reply Simone Nov 18 at 4:13 am *The reason why I chose that name is because it has a beautiful meaning behind it *I like the name because it suits my baby girl Reply Victoria Jan 4 at 4:06 pm My husband named her she is his first biological daughter so I let him name her Reply Kayla Sep 3 at 7:53 am We chose Kairi (Kie-ree) because he loves the Japanese culture. Kairi means ocean in Japanese and I love the ocean so it was perfect for both of us. It also comes from one of our favorite video games, Kingdom Hearts. The only thing I’m not a huge fan of is that everyone calls her Carrie at first, which is understandable, just annoying lol. But I love to original spelling so we will suffer through 🙂 Reply Madeline Apr 13 at 12:54 pm We were looking for a girl name that started with the letter K. After lots of online research we decided to use Kairi (ky-ree). We believe it’s Japanese and has something to do with water. It’s also the name of a character in a video game (Kingdom Hearts), which we actually only learned of after choosing the name. We just liked the name and how it sounds.
