It’s my husband’s favorite boys name and we wanted something unique and different for our first child! Also Lochlan is a form of the name Lake, which is a family name! And it’s also Scottish like our heritage!

It just felt right for him! We really connected when he was in utero. I had dreams about this name. We prayed and waited and once he was born there was no doubt that was the right name for him. I did lots of digging. We really liked the Scottish Lochlan clan’s motto was ‘Brave and Trusty’ (Fortis et fidus) which we felt suited our boy even from the womb, and then he totally lived into his warrior like name even during his delivery and stay in the NICU. He is wonderful. 6 weeks this week and thriving. ? WE LOVE THE NAME!

My husband has Scottish heritage. Also the meaning is “land of the lakes” we love hiking/backpacking/nature so we felt this name resembles our love for the outdoors

We choose Lochlan because of it’s meaning…land of lakes. We are a water loving family and have a dog named Kai (meaning: ocean). We were going to name him Lake but that seemed dull. Finally found a Scottish form of the name, Lachlan, but we live in Utah and did not want his name mispronounced so ended up with the Irish spelling, Lochlan. Both of us parents have Scot/Irish decent in our family and thus seemed like a perfect fit!
