  1. We call our little guy Newt, after a freedom fighter named Newt Knight who was portrayed by Matthew McConaughey in “Free State of Jones.” We wanted to name our son after a person who fought for the truth and what is right even if it is difficult and unpopular.

  2. We chose the to name our son Newton because it was the last name of his amazing great-grandparents, who never got to meet him, but whose lives were an amazing picture of God’s redeeming love. We love the nickname “Newt“, which was Grandpa Newton’s nickname on the navy submarine he fought on during World War II.
