  1. We wanted a classic name

  2. Fiona was honestly the only name my spouse and I agreed on. I love it and it fits our daughter so well. She loves her name too. I have only met one other Fiona so I like that it’s not super common but not extremely unique.

  3. First name my husband and I both thought was lovely (including the nickname Fi). We both have Scottish and Irish in our family background, know some lovely ladies named Fiona and also watched a show with a great character named Fiona.

  4. She is a twin and her brother’s name is Alex. I thought they worked nicely together.

  5. I wanted an Irish name to honor my heritage, and my husband and I both wanted something unique (not a popular “top 20” baby name) but not too “out there.” We also just think it sounds beautiful, and love the nickname possibilities (Fi, Fifi, Fia).

  6. My husband and I chose Fiona because we wanted a name that was unique but others could spell/pronounce without much trouble. It means fair one and we pray our child is always fair and balanced. I love the name because it is from our gaelic heritage and was coined by a poet with our last name as well. It fits our little one because she gave me an incredible pregnancy, birth, amd is already a fair baby who sleeps through the night other than to feed at two weeks old.

  7. We both just liked the name! No prior connections to it.

  8. My husband and I are huge Netflixers and a show that we both love and enjoy to watch together was “Shameless.” The lead heroine in the show is name Fiona and the actress who plays her is just beautiful which helped us fall in love with it and that it was unique, but I come to find out after Fiona was born that my late Maternal Grandmothers middle name was Liona. Her first name was Florence so it was sort of kismet or met to be because it is like we combined my grandmother’s first and middle name to make Fiona. Even though our loved ones are no longer with us – they somehow always are.

  9. Chosen for its Irish roots, and before the movie Shrek was ever released. Such a soft and feminine name meaning ‘fair’…appropriate for a blonde fair baby too.

  10. I love that Fiona is a recognizable name, but not too common or over the top. I don’t personally know anyone else named Fiona. We get a lot of compliments on her name.
