  1. This name has been on my list long before I was ready to have kids. I love that it’s short and cute with a little character to it. I knew my girl would have some spunk like her mama 🙂

  2. My favorite doll growing up was an American Girl doll named Josefina. I loved the french version of that name Josephine and we call her Josie for short, or Jojobean. We had already decided on the name when I looked into it and discovered it meant “Jehovah increases” which is beautiful.

  3. We chose this name because it’s classic, but not a super common name. It’s short, easy to spell/pronounce, and fun. It’s a perfect fit for our girl!

  4. Her full name is Josie Ann. I like that Josie is a feminine version of Joseph or Josiah. Both are influential people in the Bible. I’m also a huge fan of Joanne Gaines but felt like her name was a little dated. Josie Ann sounds a bit more upbeat and modern.

  5. I love it! It’s super cute and I love Josephine for the full name.

  6. Me and my husband fell in love with it from the Steely Dan song “when Josie comes home” We almost added a third kid because we love the name so much but now I’m pushing for it as my son is expecting a daughter in August And of course the meaning “Jehovah increases”?

  7. Josie Joy!

  8. I picked Josie , because my godmother name is
Josephine josie for short and she passed away a yr ago

  9. We chose the name Josie because we just KNEW it was the name the first time we heard it. We also liked the meaning – God will add

    • I am called Josie. I think it’s a great name. I have lots of nicknames Jos, Jojo.
But my name is pronounced Jo see
      Not Jo zee!

      • same like its not that hard?? and my nicknames are jos and jojo too

  10. We picked the name Josie from a random list of girl names we saw online. But we fell in love with it because I was asking my husband what her nickname would be and he said “JoJo?” and then my two year old son hearing this was walking around saying “JoJo? JoJo?”, it was so cute that it sealed it for us. Also the name comes from “Josephine” which means, “God provides,” which we love.

  11. ‘God will Add’…lovely name for a blessing when others may wonder why you would have ‘another baby’.
