  1. We always called her our princess and we knew that as Sadie means princess we had to use it.

  2. Love the name Sadie – it’s common, but not to common. The one issue is there aren’t any great nicknames for Sadie.

  3. I just love this name so much – this was my Poppy’s sister’s name so it’s special to my family. I thought it was different as well. I didn’t want a name that everyone else had.

  4. We chose Sadie because it’s a family name. My husbands great grandmother was named Sigrid, but she went by Sadie. It also means “princess”, which Is something I love because she is a child of the King of Kings.

  5. We chose the name Sadie because it means princess, along with Grace as a middle name because her name would mean princess by grace, namely a princess of God by His grace given through Jesus Christ. We actually had a very hard time choosing another girl name, as we already have two girls. But, our 3 kids took to the name Sadie quickly and it was the only girl name they liked, so it convinced us!

  6. We’ve always loved this classic name and pairs well with our son’s name

  7. After having two amazing little boys, in August of 2010 I was finally graced with the little girl I had begged Jesus to choose for me for as long as I could remember! I knew from my teens that if/when I ever had a daughter – her name would be Sadie Rae (Rae is my mother’s middle name that she was never very fond of but I had promised her when I had my first daughter, she would be given the same middle name… I’m 1 of 7 siblings, only 3 of us have started families so far but both my sister and brother both gave the middle name Rae to their first born daughters as well). Lots of people told us that her name was a “dogs name” and tried to convince us to rethink our decision. Thankfully my husband was on my side with her name from
the very beginning and the decision never wavered in either of our minds. I love that her name has a sweet southern charm to it, but definitely throws a little sassy in their too. It’s an old time name, that is classically timeless and will carry her well into her adult live.

  8. Always loved this name; a spunky derivative of Sarah. And it means princess!

  9. I love the name Sadie for so many reasons! It’s vintage yet fun/cute and girlie. It’s also known, but not popular enough that my daughter will be one of many Sadie’s in her circles. But my husband wanted something more timeless Incase Sadie began to feel like a younger girl’s name as she grows up. We also love names from the Bible, and Sarah, a Biblical name, is the full name for the nickname “Sadie.” We chose to give our daughter the full name Sarah Dawn. I had read a really well written article on naming your child that suggested that to create a formal name for a shortened form of a name, to use a first name with the first sound and a middle name with the second sound of the name. Sarah has the “Sa” and Dawn has the “d” that starts the second half of the name. (And Dawn is a family name for us, which is an added bonus). So that concludes the many reasons we chose the name Sadie. 🙂

  10. We wanted something less common but not something that sounded too crazy. We thought it was so cute and classically charming, and it goes well with her middle name which is from her maternal great grandmother.

  11. We wanted a name with spunk, and we wanted a name that neither of us had any association with – positive or negative neither of us knew anyone named Sadie! So far I love the name, we haven’t met any other babies with her name so it feels easy to remember but unique enough not to get forgotten (part of our history- my husband and I worked together for 1 year and never met because he figured he had met all the Emily’s- there were three others at the coffee shop) we also gave her my grandmother’s name as a middle name and just kept coming back to Sadie as a first name! She also has the name initials as her pop.

  12. Sadie means princess and I loved how beautiful it sounded. It’s also another name for “Sarah.” My husband and I both liked Sarah but thought it was a bit too plain. We ended up choosing Sadie Brielle. I don’t like that the name has risen in popularity since we chose it. I’m not too terribly concerned about the popularity of the name, though, because I know our Sadie will make it her own.

  13. We went through our family tree to find names we liked. Sadie is a nickname for Sarah about 6 generations back in our family line.

  14. I choose the name “Sadie” because it was different. I love different. It sounded classy and elegant, but cute, to me. I am also all about meanings. I wanted to try and connect her first and second name together to really mean something. “Sadie” means “princess.” But princess of what? I found names that had meanings that could possibly fit her first name to make a phrase. “Brielle” came along! Another classy name. “Brielle” means “of God.” I made my connection! “Sadie Brielle” means “Princess of God.” I want her to grow up to remember that if she ever battles with what women battle with today, her name reminds her that she never needs to compare herself to the world’s standards because being a child of God, that’s not who she is. She is a daughter of the King…a “princess of God!”

    • How crazy! Our Sadie is also Sadie Brielle!
