  1. We knew we wanted a meaningful name, preferably a strong character from the Bible. We were torn between Ezra and Malachi, mostly because I had always said my first child would be named Ezra no matter what. However, we liked Malachi because it had a slightly softer sound, still sounded good with our last name, and we liked the connection with nature, as malachite is a beautiful type of natural gemstone. Some other names we liked but weren’t serious about had this nature incorporation that we liked. Plus, I read somewhere that “Malachi” might have been a title and Ezra could have been the true author of the book of Malachi, so the tie to Ezra was still there. Once he was born we looked at him and “vibe checked him” and knew he was way more a Malachi than an Ezra. I also liked that Malachi was a rare name without being too weird and out there. I also have always loved the name O’Mally but could never name my child that, but it does work as a cute nickname for him! We also call him Kai for short (I change up the spelling so people don’t pronounce it chi, but I didn’t want to alter his actual name by spelling it funny like Malakai because I just didn’t like it that way).

  2. I wanted my son from the Bible and his name means messenger of God

  3. Biblical name meaning messenger of God

  4. I just love the name Malachi, I saw the name scrolling a list of boys names and it stood out to me like pick me pick me lol.
It’s also biblical and some of my other children’s names are biblical as well (Jeremiah /Josiah/ Moriah/Anaiah) so his name fits right on in. I also have a daughter named Aria which is not biblical but love as well her name means song or melody which is living up to she is such a singer at 2 years old.

  5. Such a beautiful and unique name. Lots of nickname options

  6. Strong biblical name that we just fell in love with.

  7. It was a strong name and we didn’t/don’t know anyone with that name.

    People often pronounce it incorrectly.

We picked the name before we saw him, but had a back up plan in case it didn’t see him. Luckily it all worked out for us lol

  8. My husband suggested Malachi, being the last prophet of the Old Testament. Both he and I liked the name for its uniqueness. The name means “Messenger of the Lord”, and spiritual connotation “trustworthy”. We want to raise our child having Godly wisdom, being a light of Christ wherever he goes.

  9. Nothing

  10. We wanted a Biblical name, and loved that it was also a name of an O.T. prophet. We also have a Samuel and Elijah, so then we would have 3 O.T. prophets. Malachi means “messenger of God”. He has already been the messenger of God to us in so many ways! We also loved that his name sounds good as a grown man’s name, not like a little boy. All around Malachi was the perfect name for our special little blessing from the Lord! ?

  11. Since reading it in the Bible and also seeing Malachi on multiple name lists I always really loved the name. I wrote it down along with other first name options me and my husband both loved but Malachi just felt right and with it being the last book of the Old Testament, it went along with out baby’s middle name. We are glad we waited until after he was born to name him because it felt like we put our hearts into deciding his name and prayed over the decision and we fell in love with the name.

  12. Meaning messenger.

The one that really popped up and seemed to fit my little man, was Malachi. I chose Leo as his middle name because I pray he follows the Lion of the Tribe of Judah and also is strong like a lion.

  16. Malachi is my first child he is a handsome little boy he is so sweet he makes me happy

  17. I like biblical names

When I was pregnant with him I was in a spiritual warfare and during this time I was going through some very traumatic experiences and I’d become as close to God as I had ever been so I feel that it was destined for his name to be Malachi Divine because not only was he an unexpected surprise but it was divine intervention he’s my miracle from God my message from God to keep striving for what the devil stole from me and til this day I’m still fighting but I’m so much stronger and filled with so much joy. Not just me but my whole immediate family. Each day I see his little glowing face and that captivating crooked smile it reminds me of just how faithful and able my father in heaven is and that his love for me is unconditional and That’s the kind of love that I have for my children

  22. I love my child
