  1. We chose Emelia because we didn’t know anyone else with the name and we thought it was cute. I just had a problem figuring out how I wanted to spell it. I wanted it to start with the letter “E” but I didn’t really like the spelling “Emilia“. I liked how “Amelia” is spelt but I don’t like the letter “A”. Thus, “Emelia” was born…literally ? I wouldn’t say there is something I don’t like about the name, but what I find a little frustrating is how people pronounce her name sometimes. But I guess almost every name can be like that.

  2. I fell in love with a certain actress from Grey’s Anatomy since I adored the show and was alone during my pregnancy. During my pregnancy, it stayed in my thoughts, and that was that. adapted the first because of her https://penaltyshooters.io

  3. I really love the name because most are so Sympathetic and very pretty

  4. I thought it’s a good name I like it but many people call me emmie and I still like it

    • Emelia is a great name u have to love it

  5. It’s sentimental and I liked it.

  6. I was alone during pregnancy an I loved greys anatomy so ,one particularly actress I fell in love with. It stuck in my head during pregnancy an that was it. Changed the first due to her grandma . .

  7. Mix of Emily (grandma), Emma (GiGi) and me (Julia)

  8. We loved the name “Emie“, thought it was super sweet and cute and could just picture our little girl with that name. However, we wanted something a bit more sophisticated for when she gets older, so we took the name Amelia, and replaced the “A” with an “E” so that we could call her “Emie” for short. We love that the name is unique, somewhat elegant and sophisticated, but also sweet.

    • Back in 2008, my train of thought was very similar to yours! I always felt like my parents lacked any creattivity when they named me because my name is basic and common (“Sarah“) so kinda boring. I always knew I wanted my children to have somewhat unique names with a purpose and several possibilities for nicknames.

My first baby my prime time Emmy, Emelia Catherine, is 15 and just passed drivers Ed! We call her Emma or EmCat but she loves her name and tried to use it at school but some of her friends are stuck on calling her Emma but her teachers exclusively call her Emelia. Her middle name is her paternal grandmothers middle name (RIP).

As for the spelling, I do know in 2008 graco released a pattern for their strollers/car seats named “Emelia”. We were gifted it at my baby shower and I knew the name was ? set!

My youngest daughter, Elaina Faye goes by Elly. She’s also named after her grandmother (Elaine) and her middle name a very very close family friend (grandmothers best friend from childhood who was not able to have her own children). Living in the south, we also loved the twang sound of “Elly Faye”. She is 10 so unfortunately she doesn’t know the similarity to “Elly May Clampett” from the Beverly hillbillies lmao

  9. Emelia Comfort. We had planned the entire pregnancy to name her Camilla but when she came into the world we just knew that wasn’t her. Emelia just seemed the perfect name. But we chose Comfort because we had a terrible hard year full of stress and sorrow and we knew she would be a comfort to us. And it happens to be a family name all the way back to American revolution days. The original ‘Comfort Anne Cash’ also was cousin to the famous Daniel Boone.

  10. My husband liked Amelia and I liked the nickname Em/Emmie, so we compromised and spelled it with an E. We preferred this spelling to Emilia, as that is traditionally Spanish.
