  1. The only thing I have not liked about naming my baby girl Imogene is confusion around how to pronounce her name. I did not anticipate this. The name meaning is not straightforward but I liked all the variations I found: Maiden, blameless/innocent, image/likeness all had wonderful significance for our family. We wanted a girl with a name that started with “I” and this was the name we liked the most. I think many family and friends expected Isabel but that name just didn’t fit for our family. Ivy was another favorite but we kept coming back to Imogene. My husband really wanted to spell the name with the second e on the end.

    • I couldn’t agree with you more! I am constantly having to correct people who call me Imogen. It’s very frustrating. I do like my name being unique, but I hate how people just assume the pronunciation and 9/10 times get it wrong! Gene is quite clearly pronounced gene and not gin.
