  1. My mom helped pick her name out

  2. I was named Alina, my mom wanted this name boy/girl, whatever her first child gender was. Very popular in Romania at that time. I love it, and so happy mom pick it for me. In Romanian means loving, positive, happy. Very Eastern European, although much loved in the US as well.

  3. I love my name ,the meaning is really beautiful & touching ??”Bright & beautiful”

  4. I chose the name Alina because my mom who passed away a year ago tomorrow her name was Melina so it’s similar and meaningful to me because of that . She was my best friend and to not have her here has been one of the toughest things and times . I wouldn’t of been able to use my moms name because that would of been too hard on me so I went with something close and similar that has meaning to it for me

  5. I chose it because it’s uncommon and it has a beautiful meaning and because my husband wanted the name “Lina” and we both just settled on “Alina” and it’s easy to pronounce is Spanish for all of our Spanish speaking families.

  6. My name is Alina. My mom named me after my Grandma Aline, not knowing the name Alina meant beautiful and bright. However, the name suits me well and of course I enjoy my beautiful name. My full name is Alina Rose Blue.

  7. We liked the name
    We love the name
    Shes a happy baby

  8. It started as a variation of my husband’s grandmother’s name Olinda and her daughters (my husband’s aunt) name Aline. I thought I was making up the name Alina but then I googled it and read it means bright and beautiful and I loved that meaning. Got emotional over it and knew I’d be naming my daughter Alina

  9. I chose Alina for 2 reasons: 1st its a variation of my husbands late grand mother’s name Olinda. From that we got Oline and then Alina. When I searched that Alina means Bright and Beautiful that became the 2nd reason I loved the name.

  10. I didnt pick this name. Her dad picked it but i love the name..it reminds me of some kind of angel or a flower or something very girly..the full name is alina celiana hernandez

  11. I liked the name for its pure vowel sounds and I found it kind of musical sounding. My husband wanted a very feminine name and I wanted something stronger but I didn’t find this one too flowery and thought it would lend itself well to nicknames if she found that suited her later (Ali, Lina).

Of course after my daughter was born we found out it was the name of one of Putin’s mistresses! But then soon after there was also a figure skater who won the Olympic gold medal so it’s a mixed bag.

  12. We chose the name Alina Bryn because it means “light on a hill.”
