Angel Name Meaning

Heavenly, gentle, and of course angelic, Angel has been a steady presence on the charts for many years. His ascent to the top has been more recent, however, and he retains a modern charm despite his ancient roots.

A bold religious pick, Angel refers to the heavenly beings that acted as messengers of God within holy texts. He’s unafraid of his spiritual side, on par with other religious names like Messiah and Christian. He’s a divine pick for parents looking to proudly honor their faith.

Angel is among the rising trend of soft names for boys, names that seek to embrace their delicate side rather than being brash with toughness. While his sound may be gentle, that shouldn’t be confused as being weak. His background gives him a spiritual strength that’s hard to match, and can prove to be a beacon of hope throughout his life.

Soft enough for a young boy but mature enough for a man, Angel avoids swinging too far toward either extreme. He’s not at all out of place on the playground, but also works out fine within the workplace.

If you’re hung up on the word name factor, never fear. Word names are all the rage for both genders. Mason and Maverick are popular picks on the boy’s side while Paisley, Autumn, and Aurora work their magic on the girl charts. This leaves Angel in great company.

  3. Angel was not even an option when it came to names but when our oldest (14m) asked if he could pick the name we agreed with no hesitation. We were just glad he wanted to be involved! He had been the only child for 13 years and then last year we got pregnant with his sister and then this year with his brother. We were so worried the change to our family dynamic and the “teenager” phase was going to be allot for him to handle. the name fits him so well, so glad we went with it.
