Jeremiah Name Meaning

A sweet name with Biblical ties, Jeremiah is making a comeback over his formerly preferred variant, Jeremy. Similar to Josiah and Isaiah, he has a soft sound and great meaning, a vintage pick with heart and merit.

Jeremiah appears in the Bible as a prophet who sought to bring the people of Israel closer to God. He faced great adversity in his quest, but is revered as a devoted follower of God. It’s a wonderful association, and his meaning of “God will exalt” certainly doesn’t hurt either. He’s a nice alternative to more popular Biblical picks, a familiar friend with established roots on the charts, but not too much fuss around him.

A charming name, Jeremiah is right at home on a little boy, the perfect pick for a curious kid on the go. Little Jeremiah is an eager learner, always ready to discover more. Jeremiah also has some seriously super cute nicknames to offer like Jerry, Jere, and the adorable Remy. He always has his full form to fall back on as well, a sturdy name for the adult world.

Jeremiah may have ancient roots, but he’s not at all dated, remaining fresh in sound and spirit. He’s right on the money when it comes to trends, working well alongside mega-popular picks like Elijah. He’s also a J name, a staple letter on the charts.

Honesty at first I was like I don’t want babies yet I just got married. So two years later when I was pregnant I for sure thought baby was going to be a boy, but she was a girl! Traditionally we name babies on the 8th day and announce it to oir family and friends in a ceremony along with the baby shower. The thought is that your name is your purpose she we prayed for God to give us the name for our children. So for baby #2 we already have the name but waiting for the 8th day to announce it our Jeremiah.
