Greyson Name Meaning

A subtle twist on Grayson, Greyson is a handsome English surname pick who doesn’t play around when it comes to style. Meaning “son of the steward”, he’s quickly risen the charts to become a familiar face in playgroups.

Parents can’t get enough of little Greyson or his variants including Grayson and Graysen. His popularity isn’t a surprise either, seeing that he has the colorful nickname of Grey as well as the sound of chart-topper Mason and everyone’s favorite Jason. The -son suffix is especially hot right now among boys and girls with Addison, Jackson, and Hudson just some of the trending stars.

He has firm roots in his surname history, but that doesn’t mean he’s not modern. He was rarely used before the 2000s, making him a worthy contender if you’re going for something contemporary. While he does have a youthful vibe, little Greyson shouldn’t be deemed childlike. He’s a great name for a boy to grow with and will wear well on a grown man as well.

Greyson has a particular posh feel to him, helped by his use of the preferred UK spelling of Grey. This subtle difference gives him a little lift of oomph over his Grayson variant for some parents.

  1. I like the name grace but was having a boy so saw greyson

  2. Boys names were always the hardest to pick out for my husband and I. I work with kids so I was very picky about names. My husband loves Batman and had come with the idea for Greyson from one of the robins that was Batman’s sidekick, Dick Grayson. We chose to change the a to an e to match my husbands name, Trey.

  3. My fiance actually was the one to really like the name at first I liked it but it wasn’t my first choice I really liked the name River but as I started thinking about it and growing my baby really seemed to gravitate to the name Greyson he would move and wiggle in the womb anytime I said the name and I just knew from there that my son was going to be a Greyson. Not to mention the color of all his furniture and baby things I’ve bought have been grey and blue and hunter green. My fiance is so excited that I agreed with the name be choose so we are naming him Greyson Dean since my dad’s name is Dean.

  4. Grey is a family name and I’ve always been drawn to it in some form. Even the color.
I wanted something unique, but not off the wall. Unfortunately, it seems like this might be a popular name for his generation.

  5. Me and my husband chose “Greyson” bc of the meaning. It means “Son of the grey haired one” and bc we just liked the way it sounded lol
Greyson is a spunky 3 month old who laughs even when he’s tired, congested or teething. We truly are blessed with this little bundle of joy!

  6. My husband actually chose our sons name. He asked me one day about the name Greyson and I liked it! Greyson’s middle name is Lee after my husband’s late grandmother. We later found out both of my paternal great grandmothers had the same middle name!

  7. The name just stuck out to me and I fell in love.

  8. I chose the name Greyson because I’m married to Greg and I loved the name Grey. I chose the specific spelling because it was close to Greg.
