Reagan Name Meaning

An Irish name derived from O’Riagain, Reagan can be traced back to a term referring to a king’s child. This posh name root is undoubtedly fantastic, giving her a hidden air of royalty.

Reagan is an obvious presidential pick, on-par with Madison, Kennedy, and Mckinley. She borrows a powerful vibe and stately feel from the association, yet retains her own modern styling. Outside of the White House, she’s also appeared in Hollywood on the female front as actresses Reagan Gomez-Preston and Reagan Dale Neis have brought her attention.

In step with many of today’s trends like surnames and unisex picks, Reagan works well with Aubrey, Avery, and Harper yet isn’t nearly as common. She manages to be both trendy and established, weaving in and out of styles while remaining unique. She’s similar to yesterday’s favorite Meghan but has a contemporary side that edges out the former favorite.

While Reagan fits in many of the top styles, she is a stark contrast from others, ignoring the push towards frillier finds like Valentina and Gabriella to dance in her own spotlight. She’s delightful on a little girl and adult alike, walking a fine line between strong sound and femininity. She’s also relatively immune to nicknames, a perk to many parents. If you’d like a shortened version, there are Rae, Raea, and Gana.

  1. I love it. It is a cute name that isn’t very popular

  2. My husband and I were in search for a name for our baby girl… his great grandfather came from Ireland and my mother in law had just taken us there the year before… so we looked up “Irish Girl Names”! It took a while before we found Reagan but once we found it we knew it was the one!!! 🙂 we paired it with Grace for the middle name.

  3. Love that it’s different

  4. My name starts with the letter “R” and for some reason wanted a girls name like that as well..Ive always wanted to use the name (Rianna) but since I had married my husband, his daughters name happens to be “Riley” and as soon as we started saying the name after finding out the sex of our daughter, instantly the two names were too close and people had to point that out to me instantly..so that scratched that name..and then I narrowed It between Roslynn and Reagan, I started to remember a girl I went to school with growing up, her name was Joslyn..but didnt want any reminders of her and school, so we scratched that and decided pretty quickly after finding out we were having a “Girl”. Also as it so happened to be it was my choice on the Girls name since my husband got to name out first borns name. Our baby Boy ” Tyler“.but it I could choose a Boy name it would of been between Braden and Jackson.

  5. Reagan means “Little Ruler/Royalty” and our prayer is that she starts a relationship with God at a young age and becomes a child of the one true King!

  6. We wanted something to go with Margaret and that ended in N like all our names
